India Meteorologic Department – IMD said that the storm is most likely to move towards the northwest and can reach the Gujarat coast in the evening of 17th May 2021. After that, It will cross Gujarat Coast going through Mahuva and Porbandar on 18th May Morning.

17 May 6:05 AM: Cyclone is intensified and the vortex is now centered at 18.5N/71.6E. Sattelite observed the cyclone at 5:30 AM today.

16 May 8:50 PM: In Goa itself, 2 people are dead and more than 200 houses are destroyed by Tauktae Cyclone, Many of the roads are blocked and the electricity supply is also affected.

16 May 7:40 PM: North Karnataka has suffered one casualty, 71 hours, 76 fish boats, and 271 electricity poles are affected.

16 May 5:20 PM: More than 100 NDRF teams are deployed in 6 states. In the meeting with Gujarat and Maharashtra Chief Ministers, Home Minister said that we need zero casualties and both states are focusing on that. Thousands of people can also be evacuated from Gujarat State.

Karnataka Government is saying that four people have lost their lives in Udupi, Uttara  Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamgaluru.

More than 50 NDRF teams are deployed in Gujarat state only. NDRF DG Mr. Pradhan said that they are working to make people aware about the situation. Some people have also lost their lives in Karnataka.
