Social Media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook Ban in India News after new rules and policies with complete reason and details. Recently India release new Intermediary Guidelines for social media platforms and asked all platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to follow these rules. This rule was declared in February 2021 and social media companies were given three month to comply. Now the deadline will end today (25 May 2021) and none of the platforms has complied with the new policies. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram-like platforms my face a ban due to this.

On Feb 25, 2021 India introduced stronger policies for the big social media platforms like Twitter, FB, Whatsapp and Instagram etc. Government asked the social media companies to remove any content which is flagged by the authorities and to appoint an officer in the country to set up a complaint redressal mechanism.
As, it was not an easy task to perform, the Indian government gave three months to the social media companies to comply with the new policies. New policies will be in effect from 26th May 2021 and social media platforms have not complied with them yet. So this can cause Social Media ban in India for big companies.

It is big-time trouble for Facebook as it has not complied with the new policies. According to the reports, if Facebook does not comply by May 26, It may lose the intermediary’s protection and status. Government can also take criminal action as per the law and order in India. The companies like Facebook which are based in the United States of America have asked for six month time.

While speaking to the media about the Facebook ban in India, FB spokesperson said that their aim is to comply with the new IT policies of India and they need more support and collaboration from the Indian Government. If this does not happen, Facebook will be banned in India until it complies will the new policies.
